Moisture Loss in the Skin

Summer means warmer weather, which makes us wear lighter clothes and drink more water to cool down our bodies. Think of the same applying to your skin! The humidity in the air combined with the heat causes pores to open up, making the skin more susceptible to both impurities and oils in the air. This in turn can result in blemishes, acne, or eczema.

Sweat causes us to lose a lot of moisture in the skin, resulting in an irritated complexion where the outer layer becomes weakened and has a harder time protecting itself against UV rays. With moisture loss, the oil and water balance in the skin is also disrupted, which can lead to increased sebum production.

What can you do? You should drink plenty of water and use skincare products that provide hydration and protect the skin barrier. Ingredients your products should contain are glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C, and aloe vera.

Treating Dead Skin Cells

The heat combined with dry air affects the skin by building up a barrier of dead skin cells, which can lead to clogged pores, blemishes, and a dull skin tone.

What can you do? A mild exfoliation in the form of a peel helps remove dead skin cells and makes it easier for the skin to absorb other nourishing products.

Prevent Premature Aging and Wrinkles

UV rays are the primary factor affecting skin aging. Therefore, it is crucial to protect yourself against both UVA and UVB rays.

What can you do? Use sunscreen daily. Applying a high SPF is the most effective way to maintain youthful skin.

Double Cleansing for Clear Skin

What is extra important in the summer is double cleansing, regardless of whether you use makeup or not. You can either use a Korean double cleanse or wash your face twice with your regular cleanser.

What can you do? Many sunscreens are difficult to wash off, making it essential that you double cleanse the skin thoroughly before bedtime.

Counteract Pigmentation

Pigmentation is often triggered by UV rays. It is therefore important to always use SPF, even when it's cloudy outside. If you are pregnant, you should be extra careful in the sun as the skin is more sensitive.

What can you do? The answer is sunscreen! Avoid staying in direct sunlight for long periods and protect your face properly.
